boy what a trip...
went from winnipeg Sunday to holland for gas...but then went to Ninette, Dunrea, Boissevain - stopped at a metis festival bought a shirt..looked around took some photos, he had a bison burger before going to Turtlemountain Provincial Park, and then camped in Adam Lake..looked through there..did a 5 mile fitness walk...and you had to do exercises at certain spots..a couple I didn't do..I"m not a monkey..no walking across bars with my hands..and climbing up something...other then that I did it..
Went to the beach there ...after dinner we walked up to the "moose tower" didn't see any moose and we were tired by then..but it was hot..so couldn't sleep..way too humid...
We got up Monday morning packed up..and went to the Peace Garden..very nice..stayed on the canadian side...basically walked through the main gardens...took some photos..looked through the gift shop..and left...bought mom a magnet that says international peace garden..
then we left there and went back to Boissevain. Picked up something to eat at a gas station (pizza) well individual pizza thing..and then drove to Souris. Found that suspension bridge, he walked over it 4 times..I made it just over half way across found a loose board and said..screw this...plus it was windy..And then we looked through a park there..saw some birds.(swans, geese, ducks).went to look for a viewing tower..found the 500 yr old oak tree..but didn't find the tower..we were tired...so..said..no...Then drove to Rivers, Mb...where we camped..They didn't come collect until the next morning. Its a provincial park..but just a sign saying pick a spot and we'll come collect later..
We set up camp..went to the beach..took some photos..got in the water but didn't care for it..too much trees..got out of the water..had something to eat then played mini golf....fed a gopher and took pictures of gopher. Wasn't a bad night cooler then Sunday night...although there was some drunk yelling in the middle of the night..couldn't figure out what he said....then lets see..Tuesday morning left Rivers..and headed towards Dauphin...
Went through Riding Mtn Provincial park..well not all of it..we just told the gate that we were going to Dauphin so they let us pass without paying..otherwise its $16,80 to get in..however we did stop a couple of times...looked at some wishing well...and then one of the campgrounds..um..Moon lake..nah wouldn't stay there..looked at the beach there..took pictures...then left Riding mtn..oh ya before going to Riding mtn stopped off in Olanole...just before the gate.they had an elk statue..so looked at that...Just before we got to Dauphin stopped off where the country fest was and looked around..took some photos..I think they have the Ukrainian festival there too..
Found a motel in Dauphin..Highland...put our stuff in the room...then went walking..I have blisters on my feet...danged runners..We walked around Dauphin for a bit..
Ended up having Pizza hut for dinner...fell asleep watching tv..Wednesday morning got up..and went to see what their "continental breakfast" was..there were 4 french people in the lobby..yakking..and hogging the coffee...finally got a glass of orange juice then we left..
cause there was really nothing there and I had left over pizza......but I went back to the office to get hot water for tea..and I think I suprised one of the French guys by responding to him in French.when he opened the door for me..lol
so we left the room around 9:30 am..and drove around dauphin a bit..waited for the thrift store to open at 10..went in there..looked through vermillion park..tried to find turtles..ha..couldn't find any...so off we went oh yes boy was that water green...
from Dauphin we went to Winnipegosis..and looked around...then went to Manipogo..I wanted to see a sea monster..look up manipogo to see what I mean..
He set up the tent himself...while I went to the office. I was kinda disappointed that they didn't sell rubber sea monsters..or even plush ones. We had set up fairly fast (we're getting good at this)...and went to the beach...which was pretty close..the water was very nice..clear blue..and went into the water for awhile...played catch in the water..the water was fairly shallow...could go up to the line while on our toes. After getting out of the water we went for a walk..He caught a frog....we tried to keep it but it jumped out of the water..and then later came back..but he jumped away again..
The concession stand sold food as well..including perogy poutine which I wanted to try but didn't end up getting it...was too full
because we went back to the campsite cooked some food and I was full..tried a hot caramel and sand sunday..he had a peanut butter o henry blizzard type thing.....oh yes in Dauphin and rivers we had milkshakes..
weird flavors..in rivers I had a mocha almond fudge milkshake..and he had bubblegum.(blue not pink) that was different...in Dauphin I had pina colada..and he had something called graveyard...not sure what was in it..but it was sweet..
ok back to Manipogo...we went for a walk..and saw the sunset...took lots of photos..which you'll see later..and then we were walking back we heard a large splash..don't know what the hell it was ...but both of us went..what the hell is that?...then he saw this huge bird come out of the water...Theres lots of frogs in manipogo...and lots of snails in adam lake..he caught a few snails and was keeping them in a cup but then I went ick..I'm not taking snails..we stopped off a couple of times to take photos of the road..very scenic..
and he climbed a big hill to take some photos..
Thursday Morning we got up ...used the new electric kettle I bought in walmart in dauphin (8 bucks had a built in water filter) instead of trying to heat a pot of water on a fire pit. worked well.
Turtle Mountain was too hot to make a fire but we did in Rivers and Manipogo, and I took pictures....I wasn't feeling well though...
got a sore on my lip...from the teeth...I think..and of course blisters..and well..ahem..another female problem started...early.
So we made our way home. We left Manipogo and stopped off in Ste. Rose Du Lac, because I needed to pick up something...and of course to look around..we walked around there..took some photos then off to the next place..Which was McCreery...yep a town named after Lori? hehehe.
wanted to see the statue of Alpine Archie..drove through the town and couldn't find him so went driving towards mount agassiz...because he thought Archie was near a ski resort...and we figured the mount would be it..but..no...that road took us into Riding Mountain down a gravel road..we drove for quite a while and then turned back ...finally found Archie a little farther down..just past where we turned off into McCreary...just missed him I guess...so..found Archie took a few photos and then walked around a bit....and left. Next we stopped off in Neepawa..went back through Rotary Park..and looked at the birds again. The peacocks were roaming around free..he took some bread (buns) and was feeding the birds..
however some mudhens were also running around free and somewhat chased him...with the beaks open...took some good photos...was trying to get a good photo of the Emu...but he was being difficult.....after Neepawa,we left and went to Portage La Prairie..had dinner at a place called Bill's sticky fingers..which wasn't bad...and then put some gas in the car and drove home..
thats about it..theres more but thats the basics of it....got home just after 8 pm last night..got some stuff out of the car and then took a shower..that was about it.
